Radiance Retreat Center is a place of reflection, spiritual practice, and healing.  We seek to cultivate and maintain an atmosphere that is conducive to spiritual practice and the well-being of our guests and staff.  The spirit and energy of our space is often remarked upon by visitors and retreatants.

In order to maintain this spiritual energy, we request that all visitors – during Radiance Retreat Center and renters’ events – observe some basic guidelines while staying at the Retreat Center and at the Green and Yellow Houses on Railroad Street:

Alcohol and Drugs

The consumption of alcohol and recreational drugs and other intoxicants is not permitted.  Prescription medication may be used.

Smoking

The retreat center, residential properties, and grounds are entirely smoke-free.  Smokers may go off the grounds to smoke, but are asked to wash their hands afterwards and to avoid wearing clothing that smells of smoke around other participants.

Sexual Abstinence

Couples may not be assigned to the same rooms at Radiance Retreat Center.  We request that all visitors abstain from sexual activity while on the premises.

INCLUSIVE PARTICIPATION POLICIES

This policy applies to our three types of retreats:

  •     scheduled retreats offered by Radiance Retreat Center,

  •     retreat rentals that are open to the public, and

  •     retreat rentals that are private and internal to an organization or group.

The first and second types of retreats must be inclusive of all.  The third type of retreat can limit their participation to particular individuals.

Radiance Retreat Center celebrates both diversity, on the one hand, and opportunities for groups who identify in a certain way to have a place they can meet, on the other hand.  Our intention is for this policy to be consistent with our mission to provide an environment and a variety of opportunities for meditation, spiritual practice, and fellowship in order to nurture peace, healing, diversity, understanding and connection for individuals, their families and the greater society.  Our practice follows the teachings of the historical Buddha including the insight that all beings have the potential for awakening.

We welcome people of all backgrounds and spiritual paths to practice with us in the pursuit of peace and healing.

Our teachers are recognized worldwide for their knowledge of Buddhist teachings and meditation techniques.  Meditation, practiced on a regular basis, has been proven to be beneficial physically, psychologically and spiritually.  We offer 3-7 day retreats.  We welcome you to come participate in a retreat with us.  We offer wholesome, delicious vegetarian meals.

WHAT NOT TO BRING

Scented toiletries, candles, incense, rustling and noisy clothing like synthetic jogging suits, meat or seafood, alcohol or drugs (other than medically prescribed).  Cigarettes can be smoked off campus.
